O…Saya – A.R. Rahman & M.I.A. from the Slumdog Millionaire Soundtrack

Friday, December 26th, 2008

This evening, me and the lady checked out Slumdog Millionaire.

Yes, the ending is somewhat predictable.

Yes, there is a Bollywood Dance sequence during the closing credits.

And Yes. It’s Awesome. Seriously, go see this movie, it’s really good. Uplifting, great date movie, visually stunning representation of the hyper eclectic planet we live in.

Anyway, MIA helped with soundtrack, and contributed to this track below. Enjoy!

The new hotness? Lauren Flax

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

When I hear new music, I really try to avoid watching an accompanying music video or reading too many articles or myspace pages to go along with it. I’ll get to them eventually, but at first listen, I want to hear the music.

On the Fader.com webpage, I just heard a track from someone name Lauren Flax, out of New York. First listen to the track:

You’ve Changed Featuring Sia

[audio:http://this.bigstereo.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/youve-changed-original.mp3]

Download the track off the Mad Decent Website

Now, after perusing her Myspace page, seems she’s a DJ/Producer out of the NYC. In any case, the track, featuring aussie singer Sia, has a definite early 90’s CeCe Peniston, Detroit Techno, “Big Fun” R&B vibe.

All of this is a good thing. Fun, happy, cheesy, peak-time fun vibe to it. It’s a nice contrast to a lot of the electro grind bass stuff that is out there (i’m not hating, I just like the contrast).

Anyway, I can’t wait to hear, and play out more stuff like this. Find out more about Lauren here.

Jim Jones – “Pop Champagne (Feat. Ron Browz & Juelz Santana)” (Yes, this is corny, ridiculous, misogynist record, but I can’t get it out of my head, so leave me alone!)

Roots Manuva – Again & Again ( I love this beat! old school british digital reggae sound!)
